Leather-bound books Volumes II and III of The 1870 publication of The Works of Thomas Hood (1799-1845). William Michael Rossetti in 1903 called him "the finest English poet" between the generations of Shelley and Tennyson.<br><br>This edition was edited by the author’s children, playwright and humorist Tom Hood (1835–1874) and the children's writer Frances Freeling Broderip (1830–1878).<br><br>These books are richly, and humorously illustrated throughout and offer a rare glimpse at Victorian humor and literature.<br><br>The boards are somewhat worn as shown and there is some foxing throughout as is to be expected given that the books are about 150 years old.
